The 2014 Deutsche Telekom Sustainable Procurement Dialogue Day, held in Bonn on 26 March, involved detailed consultations with representatives of DT's main value chain stakeholders. Paul moderated the plenary sessions.

April

Chatham House was host to a high-level meeting of international energy experts on 30 April, which Paul chaired. Participants wrestled with the policy challenges of ensuring that global energy systems were more reliable, environmentally sound and economically affordable.

May

The 2014 VinylPlus Sustainability Forum, which Paul chaired, was held in Rome on 8-9 May.

June

The Vienna International Centre was the venue for the 2nd meeting of the UNIDO/UNEP Green Industry Platform Technical Expert Committee (TEC), which Paul chaired for the second year in a row.

July

The Guardian Sustainable Business Food hub carried an article by Paul (written in his capacity as Chair of foodwatch Netherlands) challenging the incoming European Commission to prioritise food safety through measures to increase the transparency and accuracy of information provided to consumers.

August

As part of his continuing work with the Hager Group on sustainable development, Paul travelled to Alsace to help design e-learning tools and techniques.

September

Paul facilitated the 2nd meeting of the UNIDO/UNEP Green Industry Platform Advisory Board, which was held in New York on 22 September. Here with UNIDO Director-General H.E. Mr Li Yong and Dr Robert Dixon (Head, Climate Change and Chemicals Team, Global Environment Facility).

October

Paul delivered the opening keynote address to the EQFM 25th Anniversary Forum on the them of 'Creating a Sustainable Future', Brussels, 20 October.

November

Paul was invited to be master of ceremonies and plenary chair for the [avniR]/cd2e international conference on Life Cycle Assessments, held in Lille on 5-6 November.

December

During the first week of the Lima Climate Summit, the Financial Times carried a letter by Paul challenging the proposed approach on climate finance and calling on governments to provide massively increased market incentives for flows of private and public finance for renewable energy systems.
